4 Ways to Pay for Braces at Bold Bite
Every Jacksonville family's budget is different. Bold Bite Orthodontics offers four ways to start treatment today so cost is never the reason a child waits on care they need. The plans sit side-by-side below with no hidden fine print — the in-house 0% interest plan is the one most families pick because it's the only option where the total paid equals the treatment price, with no interest stacked on top.

The In-House 0% Plan, How It Works
The Bold Bite in-house 0% plan is underwritten by the practice itself — not a third-party lender. That means no credit check, no hard inquiry on a credit report, and no interest added to the balance. Families put a $500 down payment at the start, and the remaining balance is split into monthly auto-drafted payments starting at $149/month. Terms run for the duration of active treatment — typically 12 to 24 months — so the monthly payment scales to match the treatment length.
Paying the full treatment fee at the start of treatment earns a 5% discount on the total — a saving of roughly $225 to $345 depending on treatment type. HSA and FSA funds qualify for this discount when used as a lump-sum payment. The discount applies only when the full amount is paid at contract signing; it does not combine with the monthly plan.
How Much Are Braces? Price by Type
All pricing is all-inclusive, exam, 3D CBCT scan, digital impressions, brackets, every adjustment visit, emergency visits for active patients, and the first full set of retainers. Starting prices are shown below. Exact cost is determined by case complexity and treatment duration, which Dr. Greenberg and Dr. Cao confirm together at the free consultation.
Treatment complexity and duration determine the fee. The ranges below reflect typical Bold Bite cases.
| Complexity | Typical Duration | Fee Range | Common Cases |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mild | 6–12 months | $3,500–$4,500 | Minor crowding, small gaps, post-retention relapse |
| Moderate | 12–18 months | $4,500–$6,000 | Typical teen comprehensive, adult alignment with mild bite correction |
| Severe | 18–24 months | $6,000–$7,500 | Extraction cases, severe bite correction, multi-specialty coordination |
Average patient with PPO insurance pays ~$2,500 out of pocket after the lifetime orthodontic benefit is applied. Bold Bite files insurance claims on the patient’s behalf at no additional cost.
| Braces Type | Starts From | Down Payment | Est. Monthly* |

| Metal Braces Traditional metal brackets, the most cost-effective comprehensive option. Handles the strongest rotations and complex 3D movements. Patients pick new elastic color ties at each adjustment visit. |
From $4,500 | $500 | From $149/mo |
| Clear Ceramic Self-Ligating Braces Transparent brackets with built-in doors (no elastic ties) that blend with natural tooth color, the most discreet fixed option, popular with adults and image-conscious teens. |
From $4,700 | $500 | From $149/mo |
| Children's Phase 1 (Interceptive) Early-intervention partial braces for ages 7–10 to guide jaw growth and create arch space. May reduce or eliminate the need for full comprehensive treatment later. |

How Your Tier Is Determined
Bold Bite writes three complexity tiers for aligner cases. Tier 1 (Invisalign $5,500 / Angel $4,500) covers simple cases — minor crowding, short aligner runs, or Phase 2 finishing after a Phase 1 round. Tier 2 (Invisalign $6,500 / Angel $5,500) covers the standard adult or teen comprehensive case, typically 12 to 18 months. Tier 3 (Invisalign $7,500 / Angel $6,500) covers complex cases — extraction-driven alignment, severe bite correction, or multi-specialty cases coordinated with an oral surgeon, periodontist, or ENT. Dr. Greenberg and Dr. Cao review every new 3D scan together before confirming the tier at the free consultation. The tier is written into the financial agreement before treatment starts — Bold Bite does not raise the price mid-treatment if the case turns out more complex than expected.

How Bold Bite Decides What to Charge for Braces
Bold Bite's pricing reflects specialist-level diagnosis by two board-credentialed orthodontists, a CBCT scan included in every comprehensive exam, personalized treatment planning reviewed by both doctors, advanced technology (CBCT, iTero, wireless scanning, in-house 3D printing), unhurried appointments, and a high standard of finishing — not a volume-based corporate model. For families where price is the primary factor, the practice openly refers to the Jacksonville University School of Orthodontics resident program, which offers lower-cost resident-supervised treatment under faculty orthodontists. Bold Bite would rather a family get the right care somewhere than skip treatment entirely.
All-Inclusive Treatment, What's Included
Every quote Bold Bite Orthodontics writes includes the initial exam, the Vatech Green CT ultra-low-dose 3D scan, the digital iTero + Allied Star impressions, every adjustment visit through the end of active treatment, all bracket rebonds if a bracket comes loose, every emergency visit for active patients, and the first full set of Essix retainers at the end of treatment. The price on the contract is the price the family pays.
Initial exam + Vatech Green CT 3D CT scan (a $200–$500 value at most practices)
Digital impressions with iTero and Allied Star, no goopy trays
All adjustment visits through the end of active treatment
Bracket rebonds included if a bracket comes loose during treatment
Comfort visits during patient care hours for active patients. No extra charges. See full emergency policy
First full set of retainers (upper + lower Essix) at the end of treatment*
Grin Scope (smartphone app) remote monitoring, fewer in-office visits needed
*Initial set of retainers included. Replacement retainers for loss, damage, or wear are available at additional cost (see below). Retainers are a lifetime commitment to protect the treatment result.
Out-of-Contract Costs, Priced Separately, Disclosed in Writing
Two categories of cost are not covered by the all-inclusive braces fee: replacement retainers (once the first set is worn out or lost) and non-patient emergency visits. Both are priced in writing at consultation so there are no surprises.
Replacement Retainers
First set is included. Replacements: $150/arch with the original 3D-printed model, $250/arch with a new intraoral scan, $300 for an Angel retainer set, $350 for a Vivera premium set. Every comprehensive patient finishes with two sets of retainers and automatic enrollment in Retainer Club, so a replacement is always a tap away. Through Retainer Club, patients reorder a fresh set anytime from their phone at a reduced member rate, or join the Smile Care plan, which lowers that cost further and ships a new retainer once a year for as long as they stay enrolled.
Comfort & Emergency Visits
Contracted patients during patient care hours: no cost. Broken brackets, poking wires, cracked retainers, and similar in-treatment comfort visits are seen at no charge. All other patients pay $By arrangement with existing treating orthodontist only during patient care hours and $By arrangement with existing treating orthodontist only in other hours, subject to doctor availability. See the full emergency policy for the contracted-patient off-hours rate and other details.
MARPE Palatal Expander (when indicated)
Miniscrew-assisted rapid palatal expansion is priced separately at $1,500-$3,500 when a case requires palate widening before braces finish the alignment. Most MARPE cases land at the lower end of the range. Discussed only when medically indicated.
Transfer Cases
Patients transferring mid-treatment from another practice pay a $100 consultation fee, deductible from the treatment fee at case start. The treatment fee is calculated based on remaining treatment time. Use the cost calculator for an estimate.
Insurance, Expected Contribution: $1,500
Most PPO dental insurance plans include a lifetime orthodontic maximum separate from the annual dental maximum, typically $1,000 to $2,500 per patient. The plan language usually calls this an orthodontic lifetime benefit, which means it applies once per person, regardless of how many treatment rounds the patient needs. Jacksonville plans through Delta Dental, BCBS, Aetna, MetLife, Guardian, Cigna, United Healthcare most commonly land in the $1,500 range. Bold Bite Orthodontics verifies each plan in writing at the free consultation before the family signs any financial agreement.
Bold Bite files claims directly with the insurer as a courtesy. The practice calls this an assignment of benefits — the insurer pays Bold Bite directly, and the family sees only the estimated out-of-pocket portion on the monthly financial agreement. There is no upfront reimbursement to chase. Deductibles and annual-maximum rules that apply to cleanings or fillings do not typically apply to orthodontic lifetime benefits, but every plan is different — the front-desk team confirms the specifics for each family before treatment starts.
Families without orthodontic insurance pay the same all-inclusive fee the insured families pay, minus whatever a community or group discount applies. The only difference is the total out-of-pocket cost — there is no uninsured premium at Bold Bite.
Why Choose Bold Bite Over a Cheaper Office?
A lower-priced alternative usually means fewer specialists, less technology, or hidden add-on fees that surface later. At Bold Bite, two residency-trained orthodontists personally plan and manage every case, not a general dentist who completed a weekend certification course or a remote service with no in-person exam. Every patient receives CBCT 3D imaging with airway screening, in-house 3D-printed appliances, and remote monitoring, all included in one transparent fee. The practice's position is that paying a fair price once and finishing well is a better outcome than saving up front and needing treatment redone.
